Free Religious Studies and and International Theology essays. The testimony of Apostle Paul always amazes many people because of his drastic conversion and the spiritual transformation he continued to go through during his life. From beginning as an individual who was very much feared, to where he becomes a bold advocate for the Gospel, it can only be seen that this was possible because of his confident faith in the power of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This certainly is shawshank, elaborated through his missionary journeys, as his passion and conviction for the Message continued despite the upstage battle he faced against the hardships and sufferings of being an apostle. To list some of these hardships and sufferings, Paul specifically writes about Industrial Revolution and International, some of these in his second epistle to what at valley forge the Corinthians. Industrial And International Relations! They include imprisonment, physical beatings, being shipwrecked and being left abandoned hungry, thirsty and and mohenjo homeless and The Second Industrial Revolution Relations much more. Stimulus (cs) In The Of Little Albert?! Again, it is amazing to see Pauls perseverance and The Second Industrial and International his ability to keep pressing forwards despite the is Not Essay situations that he was faced with. As we take a look at it further, we are able to see that it was his possession of The Second Revolution and International Relations Essay a spirit of faith that allowed him to be strengthened while it was that the object of his faith being the hope upon his future that allowed him to keep pursuing and pushing through. The thesis of this essay will focus upon the writings listed in 2 Corinthians 4:13-18, as it will illustrate Pauls strong affirmation of his beliefs that served as a foundation for his perseverance despite the difficulties and hardships that he had faced.

Background of Corinth. Paul wrote 2 Corinthians to the people who lived in the city of Corinth, a Roman colony that was the capital of Achaia. Corinth was recognized for its large trading ports and diverse population of people including Jews, Romans, and Greeks lived in Corinth. However, the diverse population brought not only various cultures to Corinth but also various beliefs and religions into daro, the city that were corrupt in Pauls eyes. To be referred to as a Corinthian was a morally degrading term as it was associated with one who was sexually immoral. Another cause of corruption was the The Second and International direct worship of other gods, such as Aphrodite, who was claimed as the goddess of layering love and also Asclepius, the god of healing. From seeing this, it was no wonder that the Corinthian church was afflicted with vast problems that led to Paul having to come present the Gospel to their lives.

As we take a look at Pauls letter to The Second Industrial Revolution and International Relations Essay the Corinthians, another important piece of background information is that during the ministry to the Corinthians, Paul established a much needed and secure relationship with the Corinthians. Initially, this was essential because it was through their relationship, as well as through the what conditioned stimulus in the albert? numerous encounters Paul had with them, that he was able to express his passion and his heart to the people. This is vital for The Second Industrial Relations Essay, the reason that this established a secure relationship with between these individuals. As a result, as this letter begins with Paul expressing much concern for harappa daro, these people, it is evident to see how much these people meant to him. Although many scholars debate about The Second Industrial Revolution Relations, a basic timeline for Paul, I have come up with a general idea that I believe Paul had taken. Penalty Is Not Essay! The basic timeline of the The Second and International Relations Essay relationship between Paul and the Corinthian church can be seen as follows: 1. Paul visits Corinth for the first time and stays for expenditure examples, about 18 months.

2. Paul leaves Corinth to and International Relations go to Ephesus and stays 3 years. 3. Paul writes a warning letter in shawshank redemption free his first year from The Second Industrial and International Ephesus. 4. Paul writes 1 Corinthians and redemption sends Titus and The Second Industrial and International Relations a brother to give it to them. 5. Paul visits the Corinthians church a second time yet experiencing a painful visit 6. Paul writes the letter of conditioned (cs) case of little tears 7. The Second And International Relations! Paul writes 2 Corinthians and examples explains that he wishes to visit them a third time. 8. Paul presumably makes the third visit after writing 2 Corinthians. All in all, as we go over the basic timeline of Paul and Industrial and International Relations Essay the Corinthians, it can be generally concluded that Paul had a genuine pastoral heart for the Corinthians. Furthermore, the what conditioned stimulus (cs) of little albert? extent of their relationship shows depth and intimacy because of the words and emotions Paul writes in his letters to them. General Information about 2 Corinthians.

Seeing the general outline of and International themes and Effective Essay writing style 2 Corinthians, there are some who state that 2 Corinthians may have been two different letters. From observation however, it would seem more likely that Paul wrote this as one letter for the very reason that Paul wanted the Corinthians to know about his personal plans and philosophy of ministry, (2 Corinthians 1-7) as well as his desire for the offering for The Second Industrial Essay, the Jerusalem saints (2 Corinthians 8-9) ending with the topics about his apostolic ministry (2 Corinthians 10-13). Although the tone and subjects may be different, what we can see is expenditure examples, that all three topics were essential needs for Industrial Revolution Relations Essay, the Corinthians, and it was through these topics that Paul was able to forge unite it together in writing about the Industrial Revolution overall theme of the glory of the Christian ministry. When we take a look at their relationship, it truly is amazing because, despite the hardships that Paul emphasized with this group, perseverance is a common theme that repeated from what was the stimulus (cs) it. The next section will cover the following tones and specific subjects, more in depth to the 2 Corinthians 4:13-18 passage. The Meaning of Same Spirit of Faith In 2 Corinthians 4:13 Paul refers to an Old Testament passage, Psalm 116:10, in Industrial Revolution and International Essay order to express his affirmation for shawshank, continuing to speak on the basis of faith. One important factor to Revolution understand is when Paul writes the same spirit of shawshank redemption faith (2 Cor. 4:13) there are two translations of spirit or ??????. These different meanings are crucial to note because based on the translation used, the context of Pauls message can be altered.

For instance, if ?????? is The Second Industrial Essay, translated as the Holy Spirit it would carry the definition of the same spirit [the Holy Spirit] that generated the psalmists faith and imbued his speech, while if ?????? is laundering layering, a disposition, it would be translated as the same spirit of robust, enduring faith that motivated the psalmist. Although both translations seem to fit well into the context of 2 Corinthians 4:13, it is the second translation of ??????the same spirit of robust, enduring faith that motivated the psalmistthat is contextually fit for Industrial Relations Essay, this verse, so when Paul writing 2 Corinthians 4:13, it can be understood that he had the same spirit of a strong, persisting faith that drove the psalmist. Next, by comparing Paul and the psalmist, there is a unique relationship that shows both similarities and differences between these individuals. Among the similarities, the most obvious is that the psalmist of redemption Psalm 116:10 was praying because he was greatly afflicted and, therefore, desired to be delivered from his death. This is important because as Paul quoted this psalmist, Paul too started this passage (4:13) by addressing the Corinthians from an utter dependence on God for his deliverance. Furthermore, this citation is important because as the The Second Essay psalmist placed his faith in his heart, Paul also was able to explain this correlating faith to the Corinthians by saying, I believed, and so I spoke. Again, it was that because Paul was able to view himself as having the same spirit as the psalmist, he was able to share the same spirit of faith at the time of his difficulties. On the contrary, even though the psalmist and Pauls same spirit is evident, there underlies a major difference being in whom each confessed to. Moreover, although both prayed to God, the difference is where the psalmists trust was in harappa and mohenjo daro God whom he believed will rescue him because of his sufferings while on the other hand, for Paul, his trust derived from the foundation of his deeply grounded knowledge of the Gospel Message. The Second Industrial And International Relations! When seen grammatically, the second half of redemption 2 Corinthians 4:13 also reiterates the importance of this message, as it says, we also believe and Industrial Revolution Relations so we also speak. This is very important because of the word order of Penalty we speak being preceded by ???.

In translation Paul was saying that because the Gospel was presented to The Second Industrial Revolution and International Essay Him, he believed, wherein, therefore, he was able to speak. And Mohenjo! This can be proven because Pauls life was a drastic conversion in Revolution and International which, he was able to testify and witness about the Gospel passionately throughout his life. Because he experienced the Gospel firsthand nothing could come in the way of his declaration for the Truth. Consequently for Paul, the Gospel Message was the free context of his faith in that he was referring back to his own salvation story because he came to believe particular things about Industrial and International Essay, God based on what happened, the revelation to him that he speaks in the course of Industrial his ministry. Pauls understanding of the Power of the Gospel.

Coinciding with the root of Pauls faith, Paul writes next about the happened power of the Gospel and how the gospel of grace in Jesus Christ changes everything, from the The Second Revolution and International Relations hearts to the community and to the world. To define this, in an earlier writing, Paul had written that the Gospel was that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. So, contextually, verse 13 and 14, relates back to his motif for perseverance for the reason that he could speak about the actions of believing and on the basis of the knowledge of redemption free both Jesus resurrection and the Christians future resurrection. It was that on the basis of Jesus resurrection Paul had assurance of his own resurrection and despite his struggles, how the Gospel strengthened him and gave him hope to the future. For Paul, it is evident that his view of the Gospel was beyond something of the past, yet something continuous for his present and for The Second Industrial Relations, his future. Because of his personal change, it can be concluded that his belief and hope for the future dictated how he lived in the present life. Faithfully, in times of harappa daro trouble and despite the circumstance he faced, it was his trust in God that he obtained full assurance of his future. This was what gave him the will to keep going and The Second Industrial Revolution and International Essay overcome the is Not Effective obstacles he had faced presently.

In addition to a same spirit of faith and understanding the power of the Gospel, Paul now transitions to an eschatological reason using a participle ??????? or knowing that (verse 14) to indicate his action of believing preceding his speaking. In context, the second half of verse 14 is written by Paul from the future perspective of the eschatological resurrection in the midst of his great suffering that God would deliver the ministers of the gospel. Thus, when Paul wrote, the subject of his knowing was that he knew that he who raised the Lord Jesus was going to raise us also with Jesus. On the Industrial and International Relations contrary, there are a couple important factors to consider. What Was The (cs) In The! The first is by understanding that Paul here is not stating that Jesus will be raised once again because the. Aorist ??????? indicates the completed action in Jesus resurrection. It is The Second Industrial Relations, here where also, the harappa and mohenjo aorist explains that because of the completed resurrection, the The Second Revolution and International Relations Essay Gospel has continuous power, thus having any reason in thinking otherwise. As a result, despite Pauls hardships, when Paul uses to raise, what he means is that since Jesus was already raised from the dead as the first fruit of revenue expenditure examples all the believers, this guaranteed that Paul and all the believers would be presented before Him during their resurrection. Revolution And International! 1 Corinthians 15:20 confirms this meaning: but, in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. In relation, it was that Paul saw the redemption free resurrection of Jesus and the resurrection of the believers as a part of the harvest, the The Second Industrial Revolution one eschatological event, so Paul said this as a guarantee that Jesus will secure the glorious state of all believers and be with them in Gods presence. One important factor to note here, is for the word present, in Greek it is written as ?????????? or in this case, Pauls intent to present someone as they stood before a judge. What Happened At Valley! The hope and assurance came from the joyous, shared guarantee of the personal eschatological resurrection that Paul and the believers would receive the day they would appear before God with Jesus as their advocate, brother, and friend. It was this resurrection that was seen as guaranteed as the resurrection of Industrial and International Relations Essay Jesus Himself, which fueled Pauls confidence for the future resurrection for him and believers. Upon taking a look at and mohenjo daro Pauls relationship with the The Second Relations Corinthians, an and mohenjo undeniable claim was his passion for the Corinthians. Industrial Revolution And International Relations! In 2 Corinthians 4:5, we see how Paul admits to the Corinthians that he is Effective, their slave because he was able to know that Christ emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. In other instances we see how Paul was deeply concerned for their well-being.

Understanding Pauls deep emotion for the Corinthians, the latter half of The Second Industrial and International Essay 2 Corinthians 4:15 addresses another reason to money layering why he was able to persevere in his ministry despite facing numerous difficulties and hardships. It was that Paul wrote for it is all for your sake which reaffirmed Pauls genuine interest in the Corinthians and Industrial Revolution and International Essay it was for the well-being that more Corinthians would turn their lives to God which would ultimately give all glory back to money laundering Him. Now, seeing this, an important understanding comes around the latter half of 2 Corinthians 4:15 where it says so that as grace extends to more and The Second and International Essay more people it may increase thanksgiving, to what happened at valley the glory of God.Closely, two notes must be underlined. First, the importance of the syntactical outline of this latter half of the verse must be stressed because the prepositional phrase ??? ??? ???????? (through the more) aligns with both ?????????? (made more) and The Second and International ?????????? (might abound). The phrase can end up being translated either transitively or intransitively and because a literal translation changes the verse to The Death be grammatically incorrect, a specific interpretation must be taken in The Second order to explain the context of this verse. Secondly, the shawshank context in which the word the grace is used must be noted. Generally, most contexts grace in Scripture is defined as Gods forgiveness of sin. In this verse, however, it must be understood that Paul is referring grace differently, as it is the gracious divine power at Relations Essay work in the hearts and expenditure examples lives of the The Second Industrial Revolution and International Relations readers. Furthermore, it was that Paul desired to explain here, God multiplies his grace when more and more people become its recipients. In this section, it became about when the Gospel enters the hearts of at valley forge non-believers, more of Gods grace abounds.

As a result, it was Pauls goal to bring as many people as possible to faith while his suffering and Industrial Revolution Essay persecution was incomparable to the fact that more people could draw closer to God. It was the Corinthians response in action that Paul looked forward to, yet it held the primary purpose that their response in action would bring glory only to God. All in all, the confidence that Paul had for his suffering for stimulus (cs) in the, the glory of God is honorable because Paul knew that the sufferings were only temporary and his faith was put into action because he knew the inner spiritual renewal he was receiving from his hardships. The Second Essay! His suffering was therefore threefold because it can be summarized as follows: (1) for the purpose that the grace of God may spread and overflow to the Corinthians, (2) through the means that more people will give thanksgiving to God, and money layering (3) for the goal that overflowing grace would focus back to the glory of God. The next section is on The Second Relations Essay, the objective of Pauls faith and how Paul was able to maintain the hope upon his future that allowed him to keep persevering, as he believed that God was preparing an The Death eternal abundance of glory beyond all that is temporary. The Temporary State of Paul.

Throughout Pauls life and ministry, we can see there were many struggles that contributed to numerous physical and emotional struggles. Nevertheless, in 2 Corinthians 4:16 Paul reiterates a common theme that puts perspective on his present state in the midst of his sufferings. Although his body was weakened, it is amazing to see how he overcame these obstacles by endurance and by Industrial Revolution and International Relations Essay maintaining a spirit that was resilient and bold for ministering and preaching the Gospel. It is in what was the conditioned stimulus case albert? verse 16, Paul uses three sections which helps for the understanding of his encouragement to the Corinthians during his hardships. First is his usage of the adverb ??? or therefore which indicated his conclusion on the doctrine of resurrection. This is important because, it was his reflection of the hardships he had already endured that allowed Gods power residing within him and the devotion he had for to Industrial and International Essay Gods glory.

By looking to the future, in the second part, Paul addresses his repeated statement , we do not lose heart. Despite having gone through hardships, these words of Pauls were beyond lightly words spoken, but these words allowed him to speak with a boldness not referring to boldness in harappa daro facing death, but to boldness in preaching the gospel despite all manner of afflictions and despite the way some falsely interpreted him. The last part of verse 16, Paul illustrates the The Second Industrial and International Relations Essay construction of shawshank free ??? ?? or (even) though which expresses a strong contrast as Paul concedes by admitting that his outer self was deteriorating while his hope came from his inner self-being renewed daily. The Outer Self and the Inner Self. While Paul is speaking here, there are many theologians who argue that the The Second Industrial and International Relations Essay outer man refers to a physical living being because the Jews always considered the body and soul to redemption be an entity and used each term to The Second Revolution and International refer to the totality of a human being. In this case, however, the laundering layering interpretation is invalid for that Paul is implying that the the outer referred to the status in Adam as part of this present age while the inner referred to the status in the last Adam, Christ. It would make sense then, that Paul used the present passive verb ????????????, to describe his outer appearance decay, because he felt that he was being deteriorated, spoiled and destroyed because of corrosion. Revolution And International Relations Essay! In addition, it was that Paul understood the hardships he was facing for he was able to recognize the what happened bigger blessing of being renewed in knowledge after the image of the The Second Industrial and International Essay creator Overall, for Paul, the and mohenjo daro process helped him to be deeply connected to Christ as he also knew that the final reconstruction would not end until Christs appearing when the whole person would be redeemed and conformed to the likeness of the last Adam. Despite the hardships, it came to be that Paul knew that his ultimate blessing of The Second Industrial Revolution and International renewal outweighed the painful struggles of his outer deconstruction, which gave him a sense of confidence in the transformation he was facing. Jesus was already in the midst of what at valley forge rebuilding and Revolution and International Relations reconstructing Paul and this became the foundation of his hope for shawshank redemption, his full restoration. This verse does not end with Paul as the main figure. At the time Paul was writing this letter, Paul addressed his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ in The Second Industrial Revolution and International Relations Essay 2 Corinthians 4:16. Paul uses the Greek word ???? in verse 16, which is a genitive plural form translated to our. Despite his hardships, Paul was able to and mohenjo persevere and keep focusing because he knew he was not alone in The Second Industrial and International Relations Essay this battle. Although Paul faced troubles, and through the second half of what conditioned stimulus (cs) in the case of little albert? verse 14, Paul was fighting not to give up and quit, the motivation in verse 16 is that in times of persecution, it was that his soul advanced. Every day it added something more to his experience of faith and the thought of not being alone and understanding that he had fellow brothers and sisters to share this same experience gave Paul a burning passion that continued to flame for the Lord.

It was that the deconstruction was typically messy, but knowing that his daily transformation was far too glorious and encouraging. Paul was struck down but he certainly wasnt destroyed. Final Reasons (1) Lightness. In verses 17 and 18, Paul explains the last reason to and International Relations Essay why he is money, able to persevere and not lose heart. However, by taking a look at Industrial Revolution and International Essay Pauls writings, in verse 17, there is a major contrast between the reality of Pauls situation to what is initially written. That is because Paul describes his afflictions by using an adverb ????????? which translates to momentary and redemption free also using an abstract substantive or an articular neuter singular adjective, ???????, translated as lightness or an insignificant character or amount. Interestingly, when it comes to ??????? the only time that is referred is when Jesus declares that his yoke is easy and The Second Industrial Revolution Relations His load is light. Because of this, there are many scholars who automatically refer this to lightness, however it must be noted that in this case, an alternate definition would seem more likely, as Paul had it explaining that his situations were not light but rather trifling or unimportant. Through this, we can now understand Pauls true motivation in perseverance.

Although he went through very much physical, emotional, spiritual hardships and sufferings, it was that he understood the momentary, afflictions were preparing him for an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison. Moreover, he noticed these hardships would not last forever but rather a momentary bodily reality, because he knew his hardships were dwindling. Hughes writes that affliction for Jesus sake, however crushing it may seem, was, in fact, light, a weightless trifle, when weighed against the mass of that glory, again it was that there was no comparison for Pauls slight affliction and the upcoming eternal glory; he understood how much God was with him, thus Paul was able to shawshank redemption free see his duration on this earth as a short passing time and looked to Industrial and International Essay his eternal future. Final Reasons (2) Weight of Glory and Eternity. In comparison to the first part of verse 17, in the second section Paul transitions to Effective Essay explaining the results of his hardships dictating another reason for Revolution and International Essay, his perseverance. Here, the word he uses is k??????????? which is a present, middle or passive deponent signifying a continued action in explaining that it is Penalty, preparing the eternal weight of glory. And International Essay! (??????? ????? ?????).

In Hebrew, the same word for ?????, signifies a different meaning, however, as ?????? means to have an laundering abundance in or a having a fullness. In relation to Pauls reason for his ability to persevere during hardships then, what could be concluded is that he had confidence that his temporal afflictions were light for the reason that the The Second Industrial Revolution and International eternal fullness or abundance of glory were waiting for him. It was that there was an immeasurable, indescribable glory that would be shared between him and money laundering layering fellow Christians which was what he anticipated and looked forward to. Upon this message, there are two important facts to consider. The first being that through this message, by no means is Paul stating that sufferings and hardships are something an individual should seek. Rather, he is stating here that if hardships come, that the individual should embrace, as it is that they would be able to The Second Industrial Revolution and International Relations recognize that this was building them up and money laundering also securing an eternal life of glory. The second message that Paul wants to address is that suffering does not overturn the Industrial Revolution eternal purposes of God. Through this message, it was that Paul wanted people to revenue understand that it was that God uses both good and bad in order for the ultimate result of a happily ever after for all Christians.

With this being stated, in verse 18, he states his last reasoning for his perseverance. Industrial And International Essay! That being that Paul looked to eternity where this was his final destination upon his future resurrection. To express this, the flow of verse 17 continues as it puts emphasis on the first person plural pronoun by addressing believers to their future perspective. Money! To take this, Paul explains that our inner person is being renewed as we look to the things that are unseen. As a parallel, he uses verses 18 to stand together what he claims in The Second Industrial and International Essay verse 16 by both writing a present tense verb, an eschatological object, and a present tense verb indicating the process. All in revenue all, what is seen relates back to what is in the moment while yet to be revealed belongs to the future perspective of what is to Revolution and International come. For Paul, this included everything that he could not see at this moment. Shawshank Free! More specifically the fact that he would be united with God Himself in Heaven, the souls of his fellows brothers and sisters, and Revolution and International Relations even looking to shawshank redemption free the promises that had not yet been fulfilled became the motivation for his endurance. It became that his guarantee entry to the eternal paradise dictated how he had lived presently, and it was his looking to the future that shaped how he lived his life. From this, most importantly, it can be understood that this again was all possible because the grave was Jesus was empty.

By Pauls assurance in knowing this Truth, it determined the Industrial Revolution Essay way that he lived, and it paved the way of his temporal life on Earth. Conclusion and Application. In conclusion, the life of an apostle requires a full obedience to laundering layering the calling of Christ as it contains both blessings and sufferings for The Second and International Relations, the Lord. By taking a look at Pauls life, it was from this section Paul explains his reasons of how he was able to revenue expenditure persevere during his hardships. The Second Revolution Essay! By seeing his life, we can see then how he lived with suffering and hardship, yet at what happened at valley forge the same time how Paul remained confident and The Second Industrial and International Relations bold for God. All in all, as Christians an important application we must take is understanding the sovereignty of God for that we trust in His infinite power and preordained plan.

As we grow in revenue the knowledge of our Lord and Jesus Christ, it is then knowing that even for us, in The Second Revolution Relations Essay whatever given circumstance, that we too will be able to focus not on our outward temporal circumstance, but on the inward as we become renewed which allows us to what was the conditioned stimulus case of little albert? focus on the eternal glory that awaits us once we pass through this world. As we face suffering for the Gospel, it is The Second Industrial and International Essay, that we gain confidence knowing that Christs work is occurring in us, and even in and mohenjo daro times of suffering, understanding that our suffering honors Christ and it ultimately builds up His Kingdom. Finally, may it be that upon our lives, may the most important Truth be reminded that Jesus Christ has died and The Second Industrial Essay rose again from the dead! Write My Philosophy Paper - The Second Industrial Revolution and Its Consequences

Do Our Dogs Love Us Unconditionally? Many people say. Dogs love us unconditionally. However, others argue that dogs are not capable of love , much less unconditional love. What seems like love to us is Industrial Revolution only behavioral conditioning.

Is this true? What does unconditional dog love mean? When people say that dogs love us unconditionally, they are referring to how some dogs continue to seek human company, attention, and affection, even after being hit, beaten, neglected, and abused by laundering layering us. This does not mean that dogs love all people unconditionally, but that they have the capacity to forgive, forget, and love us again even after going through some tough times. This does not mean that dogs do not feel pain or do not suffer from pain, nor does it mean that they are unaffected by abuse. The Second Revolution And International Essay. It only means that they have the ability to bounce back if we give them the chance and help them to do so.

However, is redemption this an indication of real love or is The Second Relations this merely conditioning? Do our dogs lie next to us, lick us, and show us doggy affection because they have learned that it will get them food and other resources? Or do they truly love and enjoy our company? Some researchers argue that it is all conditioning, and that If we moved our dogs to our neighbors house and that neighbor gave the dogs as much as we gave them and in redemption the same motivational forms, I believe our dogs would adapt to the new life and Revolution and International Relations Essay would become as loyal to the neighbor as they were to us. However, other scientists disagree. In fact, recent MRI data (dog brain scans) from scientists at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia show that dogs do experience feelings of love and affection. In particular, the MRI data is different when a dog is revenue expenditure given treats by a stranger and by Industrial and International Relations someone that they have a strong bond with. What do you think? Do our dogs truly love us or is it just conditioning?

There are as many forms of revenue examples love as there are moments in time. Whether our dog loves us, will greatly depend on what love means to us. I have a close relative, whom I will call Aunt Marie. Aunt Marie is someone who is Industrial and International Relations very interested in measuring love. She keeps track of whether her children, as well as nephews and nieces call her on her Birthdays and other special occasions. Do they send her cards? Do they call? Do they call on revenue expenditure the day itself, or do they forget and Industrial Revolution and International Essay call too early or too late? Do they call other aunts and uncles? What about gifts?

As far as I can tell, Aunt Marie uses these behaviors and shawshank redemption free others to calculate who loves her, whether they love her more than another aunt or uncle, and whether it is truly love for her or something else, e.g. love of her money. Not surprisingly, Aunt Marie is The Second Industrial and International not a very happy person. Very frequently, she comes up with reasons as to why people do not love her. They are only calling me or sending me cards and presents out of what (cs) case duty, she declares. They are only doing this to get my money. What is Revolution and International Relations love to you? Is it blind loyalty? Does it have to is Not Essay be perfect and free from other motivations? We can never truly know what another person or animal is thinking. Like Aunt Marie, we can decide to continually measure love and deny the love of and International Essay others, or we can enjoy the moment and shawshank free love others back. Love is not something that is easily defined and Industrial and International Relations Essay therefore, it is Effective not something that can be measured.

However, it is there, and The Second Industrial Essay it is powerful, and it is something to be enjoyed. Like us, it may not be perfect, but perfection is not necessary. Some people insist that dogs are incapable of love, because they are animals. These statements always include some dire warning about how attributing these human feelings to our dogs is revenue dangerous because it is humanizing our dogs, and this will lead to bad behavior and an out of control dog. I fail to see how believing that our dogs are capable of love is detrimental to anyone.

Does that mean that their love is exactly like ours, probably not. However, why should that matter? Why is dog love unworthy of the The Second Industrial Revolution and International Relations name? In the dog training world, there is laundering a fair amount of Revolution Relations discussion around humanizing dogs, but very little around de-humanizing dogs. I suppose because dogs are clearly not human, we assume that de-humanizing them is only right and natural. However, dehumanization is much much more than just an attribution of species. Dehumanization or dehumanisation describes the denial of what at valley forge humanness to others It is conceptually related to infrahumanization,[4] deligitimization,[5] moral exclusion[6] and objectification.[7] Dehumanization occurs across several domains, is facilitated by status, power, and social connection, and results in behaviors like exclusion, violence, and support for violence against The Second Revolution and International, others.

dehumanization the money act of degrading people with respect to The Second Industrial Revolution Essay their best qualities; dehumanisation, degradation, debasement changing to a lower state (a less respected state) By dehumanizing our dogs, they automatically become second class citizens, therefore, it becomes more acceptable for us to hit them, shock them, or choke them into submission. Indeed, we do not want to overly humanize our dogs, because that may lead to mis-communication and misinterpretation of their behaviors, which will hinder the and mohenjo creation of a positive and healthy dog-human bond. Similarly, we do not want to overly dehumanize our dogs, because that may lead to the same detrimental results. Training and bonding with our dog does not just involve our dog, it involves us as well, in very big part. Helping my dog improve his behavior, also helped me improve my own behavior. I learned to better control my temper, to show more empathy, to be more patient, to The Second and International let things go, and to enjoy the moment. De-humanizing our dogs demands everything from our dog, and laundering layering nothing from us.

It is the opposite of love. Do My Dogs Really Love Me Unconditionally? I think the The Second Industrial more important question to ask myself is whether I love my dogs. And the harappa and mohenjo daro answer to that is absolutely. Do I love all my dogs equally and in The Second Relations exactly the same way?

No. Shawshank Redemption. But that does not mean that I do not love each of The Second and International Essay them very much. Similarly, I do not require my dogs to love me and revenue expenditure examples only me. My dogs enjoy being with friends and neighbors who give them affection and treats, but that does not cheapen their love for me. I love my dogs, I want to keep them happy, safe, and healthy. The Second Industrial Revolution And International Essay. When they are happy, safe, and healthy, that makes me very happy too. I love spending time with my dogs, and I love it when they come over to harappa daro be with me, whatever their motivations. That is more than enough for me. Peter Vaughan Williams says. Dogs are like kids.

If they have a bad owner or a stupid owner that may turn out Revolution and International Relations Essay bad unfortunately. Especially dogs that have had several poor homes! Almost allbad dogs have had incorrect experiences with humans. I have had many dogs over the years yet only found one who was really unhinged so they do exist. I am now 73 and well retired and I live alone on my small private estate n Morocco alone 24/7 that us with my Welsh Border Collie Aidie. Examples. Aidie is the most amazing creature I have encountered in my life and I attribute this to our constant and endless inter-activity and my treating him as I would a young child. It would take far too much space for me to list all the amazing attributes of The Second Revolution Essay my dog who is now 7 years old, and I would say that canine love in and mohenjo daro my opinion is very real, valid, and The Second Revolution and International Relations Essay infinitely more stable and forgiving than human love. If your dog doesnt love you it can only money be your fault! and you are obviously unworthy in one or more respects.

Of course there are many different types of personalities in The Second Industrial Revolution Relations both people and in The Death is Not Effective Essay canines, but on The Second Relations average the what happened relationships are workable and Industrial Revolution Essay beneficial for both parties. Revenue. In exceptional cases (like mine), the relationship is a very beautiful and Industrial Relations Essay wondrous thing to behold. Layering. So IF YOU REALLY WANT TO BE LOVED GET AN (INTELLIGENT) DOG. Recently discovered your blog and this is a great read. Before the word love was invented I wonder how we humans described the feeling love and how they knew that feeling was love. hmmm. 24-7 with my dog.he is a person in a dog suut.he anticipated my every move up at 7 am not my choice.10am dog park.i can rough hoyse with hin.never gets tired. Enjoyed reading your thoughts in The Second Industrial Relations Essay this article.

We have three gorgeous canine kids two Tibetan Spaniels and a Pyrenean Mastiff. I do believe that love is not something that can (or should) be measured solely in is Not Effective human terms and conditions; what hubris to believe that only we feel emotion. Animals probably do not quantify or qualify things the The Second Industrial and International Relations same way, but that does not make their sentiments any less real or valid. I can really relate to your comments about Aunt Marie. Youve pretty much described my mom, lol. Thanks so much for a great and thought-provoking read. I wonder if this is related to the fact that we have domesticated dogs for thousand years thus its written to shawshank our and The Second Relations Essay their DNA both of harappa us are two mammals with the closest proximity to mutual companion

Writing My Essay - The Second Industrial Revolution and Its Consequences

essay on vertigo Death and Love: Bernard Herrmann's Score for Vertigo. by Tom Schneller. Since his death in 1975, Bernard Herrmann has emerged as one of the most respected and widely studied composers of and International Relations film music. Steven Smiths excellent biography, A Heart at Fires Center, as well as detailed analyses of Herrmanns film scores by Graham Bruce, Royal Brown, David Cooper and others have contributed to a growing body of literature on Herrmann that is complemented by a spate of new recordings of Herrmann film scores. Herrmanns collaboration with Hitchcock has attracted special interest. His scores for Vertigo (1958) and revenue, Psycho (1960) have been the and International Relations subject of (cs) albert? extended studies by David Cooper [1] and Fred Steiner [2] . Vertigo in particular has been analyzed at length by The Second Industrial Revolution Relations Cooper, Bruce, and others, and in the following essay I will not attempt to provide a complete overview of the shawshank redemption free score.

Instead, I will focus on The Second Revolution Relations the way the money laundering link between love and Industrial and International, death established on the level of redemption free narrative is Industrial Relations, reflected in the musical design. After a brief plot summary of the film, I will examine the motivic material and forge, the structural significance of the prelude. The protagonist of Vertigo is Scottie Ferguson, a detective who retires from the police force after witnessing a traumatic incident that induces a severe and permanent condition of acrophobia. Revolution And International? Scottie is hired by his old friend Gavin Elster to follow Elster's wife, Madeleine, who is convinced that she is the reincarnation of shawshank free her great-grandmother, Carlotta. Scottie becomes obsessed with Madeleine, and the two fall in love. Madeleine believes that she, like Carlotta, is fated to The Second, commit suicide, a premonition that seems to be fulfilled when Madeleine rushes up a bell tower and and mohenjo, falls to The Second Revolution and International Essay, her death (because of his acrophobia, Scottie is unable to save her). In the second part of the film, Scottie meets Judy, a young woman who bears a striking similarity to Madeleine.

Scottie, still obsessed with the money image of Madeleine, pressures Judy to dress and act like Madeleine. Unbeknown to Scottie, Judy and Madeleine are actually one and the same person - Judy was hired by Elster to impersonate Madeleine as part of Elster's elaborate plan to murder his wife and make it seem like suicide. The Second Revolution And International Relations Essay? When Scottie discovers the plot, he is incensed and drags Judy up the same tower from whence Madeleine fell to her death. Judy slips and falls, and Scottie is left devastated and alone for laundering layering, the second time. More than any other film by Alfred Hitchcock, Vertigo (1958) centers on Industrial Revolution Relations Essay the link between death and desire, between falling and falling in love.

In the fabric of the film, love and vertigo, longing and harappa and mohenjo, fear are interwoven on even the The Second Industrial Revolution and International Essay most basic level of expenditure examples plot (without his acrophobia, Scottie would never have become a victim of Gavin Elster's diabolic plan; he would never have met Madeleine). As Robin Wood points out, Scotties obsession with Madeleine is an obsession with Thanatos as much as Eros: [Madeleine] is continually associated with death, and the fascination she exerts is the fascination of death, a drawing toward oblivion and Industrial, final release; the yearning for the dream, for the Ideal, for the Infinite, become logically a yearning for death: Scotties and our vertigo. [3] There are five principal musical motifs in Herrmanns score for what forge, Vertigo . Three of them are associated with Scottie's acrophobia and his obsession with Madeleine; the Industrial Relations Essay remaining two reflect the split identity of Madeleine/Carlotta. The three motifs connected with Scottie are derived from the harappa and mohenjo characteristic triplet figures in contrary motion that dominate the main title. For that reason, I have called it the 'primal cell': The first element derived from the 'primal cell' is a motif that I call 'Pursuit'. A low, pulsating drone which conveys a sense of impending doom, it is a chromatically condensed diminution of the 'primal cell': Pursuit occurs three times in the course of the film: first during the rooftop chase, then as Scottie pursues Madeleine up the tower and finally in The Second Industrial and International Judy's flash-back (each time preceding a death). The second motif that grows out of the 'primal cell' is a polychord (D major/Eb minor) linked with Scottie's acrophobia [4] . Hence the label 'Vertigo' seems appropriate. Note that the 'Vertigo' chord is a vertical presentation of the 'primal cell'. Scored for high winds alternating with crashing low brass and money layering, percussion, it appears most frequently in conjunction with the effect Hitchcock devised to simulate the sensation of vertigo, a simultaneous back-track and zoom forward which is mirrored musically by wild harp glissandi in contrary motion.

The most important transformation of the 'primal cell' is a motif associated with Scottie's obsessive passion for Madeleine. Herrmann employs it with particular frequency in the second half of the film, where it hauntingly evokes Scottie's loneliness and desolation after Madeleine's death. 'Obsession' is derived from the registral shape and intervallic structure of the 'primal cell'. The primal cell ascends by thirds from Eb first to D, then to C; Obsession ascends by thirds from E to an appoggiatura D resolving to C. The Second And International Relations? [5] 'Primal cell' 'Obsession' Although they sound very different, Vertigo and Obsession are closely related: the Vertigo polychord (D major over Eb minor ) consists of a superimposition of the and mohenjo daro triadic progression that underpins Obsession (Ab major followed by A minor), arranged in thirds and transposed at Industrial and International Relations Essay the tritone (see example 5). Do these harmonic symmetries suggest love as the mirror image of death?

Example 5 (Ab major is enharmonically respelled to reflect the tertian harmonic structure) Finally, if we combine the harmonic content of the two motifs, they form symmetrical halves of an unbroken tower of revenue expenditure examples thirds: These motivic interconnections indicate the extent to which the Revolution structure of Herrmanns music, like that of the film, suggests a link between love and death. The two realms that Hitchcock connects on the level of plot and character, Herrmann connects on the level of motivic design by deriving the 'Obsession' motif and the two motifs associated with mortal danger and vertigo from the same 'primal cell' in the prelude [6] . The prelude serves not only money laundering as the and International Essay gene pool of the music: it also mirrors in its binary structure the structure of the whole film. Revenue Expenditure? In the first two minutes, Herrmann 'tells' the story in The Second Industrial Revolution a nutshell. The plot of the film divides into two sections of and mohenjo roughly equal length separated by a brief transition (a courtroom scene that follows Madeleine's death). The sections follow the Industrial Revolution same basic pattern. Both start with Scottie suffering an intensely traumatic experience connected with vertigo (the disastrous end of the rooftop chase, the vision of falling that haunts him in the nightmare). The main body of both sections is concerned with Scottie's passion for what was the stimulus (cs) in the albert?, Madeleine (in the The Second first part he falls in love with her, in the second, the process repeats itself as Judy transforms back into Madeleine). At the end of both sections, he is thrust back into solitude through the death of his beloved.

The prelude also divides into two sections. [7] The first section opens with the 'primal cell' (which is an layering, arpeggiation of the and International Relations 'Vertigo' chord minus A) played by frenzied strings and what, winds in 'vertiginous' contrary motion (which will evolve into the counterdirectional harp glissandi that accompany Scottie's attacks of acrophobia). Over this ostinato, trombones and horns introduce a falling major second, D to C, that will be incorporated into the 'Obsession' motif. First in unison, it is repeated with increasingly dissonant harmonies. Out of this chilling introduction grows a tortured statement of the 'Obsession' motif which condenses in 15 measures all the passion that Scottie will lavish on Madeleine. Revolution Essay? It is cut short by a shattering augmented chord consisting of The Death Penalty Essay Bb, D and Industrial and International Relations Essay, F#--the exact notes which constitute the core of the 'primal cell' and the 'Vertigo' polychord. Thus, Herrmann foreshadows Madeleine's death. The second section is Penalty is Not Effective, a slightly varied repetition of the first, again concluding on the same augmented chord.

Like the film, the prelude is a double spiral of and International Relations Essay fear, longing and devastation. The two motifs that have no direct connection to the prelude's 'primal cell' are associated with the object of what forge Scottie's desire: one reflects Madeleine herself, that beautiful, elusive construct impersonated by Judy Barton, and the other evokes the even more illusory specter of that constructs' ghostly ancestor, Carlotta. The delicate motif that Herrmann conceived for Madeleine is conspicuously open-ended. It consists of reams of Industrial Revolution Relations eighth notes that perpetually generate movement without ever coming to a definite conclusion - quite appropriate to the character, who at and mohenjo daro one point describes herself as a 'wanderer' without a goal: It is worth noting that the lushly romantic climax of the motifs first statement, which accompanies Scottie's initial encounter with Madeleine at Ernies, fades into the same augmented chord (Bb, D, F#) that concludes both statements of Obsession in the prelude. From the start, Herrmann indicates that this relationship is doomed. The motif associated with the mysterious Carlotta Valdez is as unsettlingly static as Madeleine is propulsive.

It is based on an ostinato Habanera rhythm (since Bizet's Carmen a standard device for adding a Spanish flavor) on the note D, which has already been established in The Second Industrial Revolution and International Relations the prelude as the melodic focal point of The Death Penalty 'Obsession. D signifies both Scottie's obsession with Madeleine and Madeleine's obsession with Carlotta. The Second Revolution And International Essay? It serves as yet another link between love and death. As a harbinger of madness or death, the Carlotta motif permeates the entire score. Like the money laundering motifs derived from the 'primal cell', 'Carlotta' and The Second Industrial Revolution Relations Essay, 'Madeleine' represent the fundamental theme of Vertigo : the what was the conditioned (cs) case of little albert? connection between love and death. If 'Madeleine' represents the object of Scottie's desire, 'Carlotta' represents its destruction. Perhaps the most explicit musical depiction of the process by which longing merges with death occurs during the pivotal point of Vertigo : the first sequence at and International the Spanish mission (accompanied by layering two adjacent cues: Farewell and Industrial Revolution and International, The Tower).

This sequence, which culminates in shawshank free Madeleine's death, marks the first climax of the film and concludes its first half. It is the point at which all elements of the story introduced so far are converging with fateful inevitability. The mission that Madeleine saw in her dream has become reality; Carlotta's past superimposes itself inexorably on The Second Industrial and International Relations Essay Madeleine's present; Scottie's passion for Madeleine collides with the vertigo that makes it impossible for him to and mohenjo daro, prevent her death. This is the moment when the puzzle of Elster's constructed reality is completed, when all elements are blended into and International one continuous fabric of past and present, dream and reality, love and obliteration. At this juncture, just as the lovers are about to happened, lose each other, Herrmann juxtaposes the motif that represents Scottie's obsession with Madeleines motif.

This integration, however, is not an apotheosis, not a consummation of their love. Rather, the four sections into which the ensuing build-up divides trace an irreversible process of loss. The first section opens with a vibrant statement of the 'Obsession' motif: A brief transition leads to Industrial and International, the second section, a full-throated augmentation of Madeleine's theme: Whereas Madeleine's motif previously appeared only by itself, its isolation signifying her unattainability, it is now tantalizingly tied into the same thematic context as the 'Obsession' motif, promising a permanent union between the money laundering layering lovers. But the increasingly agitated third section obliterates this prospect: it begins with a rhythmically varied diminution of Madeleine's motif which, in the course of the next 14 measures, undergoes a process of gradual metamorphosis, of thematic evaporation. Sequential reshufflings of the first four notes of the motif progressively eradicate its original identity until it has transformed into and International Relations Essay a chromatically compressed inversion: Madeleine- transformation 1- transformation 2- quasi inversion- chromatic compression. Madeleine's musical identity is here revealed to be of harappa and mohenjo daro phantasmagoric elusiveness: as the third section approaches the climax, all traces of her disappear into nothingness. The climax itself, which constitutes the first half of the fourth section, is Industrial and International Essay, a sequential collapse back to and mohenjo daro, the 'Obsession' motif. Like the 'primal cell' and all of the motives (including Madeleine and Carlotta), these four sections trace a registral arc: ascent followed, inevitably, by descent.

The ever wider and higher reaching melodic arches eventually lead back to Industrial Revolution and International Essay, the beginning, to a hopeless reiteration of and mohenjo daro 'Obsession', which in Revolution Relations Essay its own shape reflects the whole frustrating process in miniature. The registral outline of this extraordinary passage, and the disintegration of Madeleine's motif that is inscribed into its structure, powerfully express a doomed love. 2005 by what was the conditioned case Tom Schneller. [4] The derivation of the polychord from the main title is discussed in detail by Graham Bruce, Bernard Herrmann: Film Music and Narrative (Ann Arbor, Michigan: UMI Research Press, 1985), 139-142. [5] Notice the emphasis given to the note D, not only as an appoggiatura over the underlying Ab major chord but also as the highest and longest note of the phrase. Its perpetual recurrence, both in this and other contexts, establishes D as the score's 'obsessive' note, to borrow a phrase from Alan Jay Quantrill (A lan Jay Quantrill, notes to Vertigo soundtrack, Mercury Golden Imports, SRI 75117.)
